Once again the new generation Volkswagen Crafter was recognised as the king of the vans for the year of 2017. In addition to the prestigious ‘International Van of the Year’ award, achieved shortly after the van’s debut last September, the new Crafter has recently won two more titles at the annual VansA2Z Awards.
Organised by the British experts from a specialised web portal for vans and a national media owner, the event took place at the beginning of March and celebrated the winners in 14 van-related categories. Apart from the main ‘Van of the Year’ award, the highly-praised Crafter gained the ‘Best Large Van’ accolade.
It’s notable that the Volkswagen’s brand holds the main title for the second year in a row. Last year, the top honour was given to the brand’s updated version of the Transporter van. Though this time, the model hasn’t achieved the prize, it was highly commended with respect to the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which adds to the overall reliability of the Transporter’s safety equipment.
As for the merits of the all-new Volkswagen Crafter, the judges shared the opinion that the new generation model had raised the standards in about every aspect for its market sector. The new design was characterised to be as solid as a rock, while special attention was drawn to the numerous active safety features and driver digital assistants.
Another good news for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was brought about by the Caddy small van. The model was highly commended regarding the original 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, which contributes to the car-like driving experience.
All in all, the Volkswagen’s name was almost the most frequent from those, which were referred to. It demonstrates the brand’s strong position in the British market. By the way, the UK debut of the victorious Crafter will take place at the oncoming Commercial Vehicles Show 2017 in Birmingham.
